Frequently Asked Questions About Bible Senders FAQS

Bible Senders FAQS

Who are The Bible Senders…

Bible Senders FAQS #1: About Bible Senders: Bible Senders started as a “Grass Roots” family project and has grown into a worldwide ministry.  We are average people just like you and not part of some big conglomerate.  We play the part of the “Middleman” and we do exactly what the name and our Mission Statement  implies, we plant the Word by sending Christian bibles to anyone who asks anywhere in the world for FREE!

Is Bible Senders a Non-Profit Organization?

Bible Senders FAQS #2:   Yes, my wife and I started Bible Senders in March of 2007 and became a 501c3 Non-Profit Corporation in November 2008.

Who Funds Bible Senders?

Bible Senders FAQS #3:  Bible Senders is a 100% Donor Supported Ministry.  Up until recently, the majority of the costs were funded by my wife, myself and the weekly faithful offerings of our 19 year old daughter and 12 year old son.  As the years have passed and the success of Bible Senders has increased, the amount of free bibles we gave away grew exponentially as did the costs to send them.

Though the bibles are free, boxes, labels and shipping are not.  Today, Bible Senders is still faithfully supported by the original four members (we all work regular jobs) but has grown to include faithful weekly donations and offerings from our Bible Study Group, Church Members, Speaking Engagements, Support from our Partners and Donations from people like you.  Without this support, Bible Senders simply could not do what it does.

How Can I Support Bible Senders?

Bible Senders FAQS #4:  There are many ways you can support Bible Senders!  You can do it by sending us new or opened bibles that are in very good condition, by buying new bibles from Christian Bookstores, putting a link from your site to the Bible Sender Website, making a one time donation, becoming a monthly partner and by your prayers.  No matter how you decide to show your support, all of us at Bible Senders and the people around the world who receive your bibles are truly grateful.

What Version Of The Bible Is Best?

Bible Senders FAQS #5:  Wow, tough question.  We get thousands of requests for NIV and ESV because they are written in plain language and if you are a new believer, it is an easy version to start with.  If you can, please send those as well as NIV & ESV in large print.

PLEASE do NOT send us King James (KJV) versions. While it remains one of the more accurate bible versions, 90% of the people we reach can not understand the “Old ” English language.

Personally, I have grown accustomed to reading the King James (KJV) but I constantly search through different versions when I study.  Amplified is great, the New American Standard Bible holds the reputation of being the most accurate Bible translation in English and the English Standard Version (ESV) has become my personal favorite of late.

For those Christians looking for a deeper understanding of the scriptures let it be known that the NIV is a source of contention between many bible scholars due to its occasional inaccurate translation and the excluded 17 verses from the New Testament.  But don’t take my word for it, search it out online for yourself “What is the most accurate translation of the bible”.

What Versions Of The Bible Do You Accept?

Bible Senders FAQS #6: We will accept all versions but please, NO Big Table Top / Lectern (Monster) Bibles.  Please save your time and your money. Not that we don’t appreciate your intentions but they are too big, too heavy and way too expensive to ship. Just imagine taking one of those to a bible study. Also as mentioned above, please do NOT send us the King James version (KJV).  While it is poetic it is too difficult for most people to understand.

Are Paperback Bibles Acceptable?

Bible Senders FAQS #7:  Yes.  They are good for prison, street and homeless ministries but they don’t hold up on the Ministry Trail, for daily use or overseas.  The best all-around study bible seams to be the ones with a soft leather cover in any version (except KJV aka King James.  I hope you are getting our point.)

Do You Send Bibles To Prisons / Prisoners?

Bible Senders FAQS #8:  Yes / Yes, Bible Senders has sent thousands of bibles to prisoners here in the U.S as well as all over the world.  If you wish to donate towards a prison ministry, please keep in mind that we have found that soft covered study bibles are the best and meet the needs of both the prisoners and prison management.  FYI, Prisons do not allow hard covered bibles.

What About Foreign Language Bibles?

Bible Senders FAQS #9:  Yes, we will find a good home for bibles in any language. However, the biggest requests we get for foreign language bibles is Spanish Spanish.  Hope I drove that point home.

Does Bible Senders Accept New Bibles?

Bible Senders FAQS #10:  Yes, we actually prefer new bibles in any language and in most versions.  Study bibles are the most requested and soft leather bound bibles are the most durable.  To purchase new bibles through Bible Senders and have them shipped automatically to our PO Box click the link below.

Does Bible Senders Accept Used Bibles?

Bible Senders FAQS #11:  Yes, but only those in GREAT condition.  While we appreciate your donated bibles, we can only give away those that are in very good readable condition.

RULE OF THUMB: If you would not proudly give it to your Pastor as a gift, than we can’t give it away either.

Does Bible Senders Accept Old Bibles?

Bible Senders FAQS #12:  No, they end up in the trash so please save your time and money.  Again, if you would not proudly give it to your Pastor as a gift, than we can’t give it away either.

Is There Any Cost To Those Receiving The Bibles?

Bible Senders FAQS #13:  No, our mission is to send a free bible to anyone who asks anywhere in the world.  When we started Bible Senders, our intent was to assist those who could not afford to buy a bible for themselves.  The key word here is “A” Bible as in “One” (1) bible.  We truly thank God for the people who have heard about the Bible Senders Ministry and are stepping up to the challenge in finding bibles and donating the additional funds to ship them.  It is our pleasure and a blessing for us to send a free bible to anyone who asks and while there is no obligation to give for those receiving bibles, if everybody took advantage of that, the Bible Senders Ministry simply couldn’t reach as many people as it does.

We know that a good bible is very expensive and that sometimes the people who sincerely want and need a bible the most are the ones who are least able to afford it, so we send them for free.

However, if you are able to send a donation in any amount, that would help us to send a free bible to those who truly cannot afford one.  If you are interested in supporting Bible Senders and becoming a monthly partner in any amount, please click this Partner link or the Donate button below.

Will Bible Senders Support Ministries Requesting More Than One Bible?

Bible Senders FAQS #14:  Yes, our mission is to send a free bible to anyone who asks anywhere in the world.  Unfortunately, while the bibles are free, the shipping is expensive. On average, it cost us approximately $3.00 – $5.00 for each study bible we ship here in the U.S and up to $15.00 for each one overseas. Considering that the price of a good study bible can run $50 and up, $5.00 is fairly reasonable.

We are more than willing to send large quantities, however for bible needs overseas, we would prefer to put them into the hands of some one here in the U.S who in turn can pay to ship them over.  Since Bible Senders is a Donor Supported Ministry, we encourage bible requests of 3+ and larger ministries to make a donation but it is not mandatory.

Where Do The Bibles Come From?

Bible Senders FAQS #15:  We collect bibles from anywhere and everywhere, garage sales, used book stores, new book stores, speaking at churches, church lost and found, and from church bible drives around the country, some from people we know but most of the bibles come from people we don’t know, Christians like you and Churches like yours.  To date, every bible we have received has come from Christians living here in the United States except 5 which came from Korea.  Our hats off to Korean Christians.

Can I Choose Or Track Where My Bibles Go?

Bible Senders FAQSBible Senders FAQS #16:  Wow, if only we were large enough to be that organized.   God willing, perhaps someday we will be but not today.  When we receive your bibles we send them to whoever, requests them.  Sometimes all they are requesting is one bible, sometimes fifty or more.  Then depending on what version they are requesting (King James, NKJ, NIV, etc), the box or envelope is packed, labeled and shipped.  However, since the bibles we ship out are mixed and matched we have no way of tracking whose donated King James Bibles or NIV went to which part of the world.

How did Bible Senders start?

Bible Senders FAQS #17:  We are all told to do it as it’s listed in the handbook – Mark 16:15.  There is a lot more to the story.  Maybe some day I will post it.

What Denomination Is Bible Senders?

Bible Senders FAQS #18:  Bible is a Non-Denominational Organization.  We believe that anyone, anywhere in the world who worships the living GOD of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and believes that Jesus is their Messiah, the Way, the Truth and the Light, is a brother and a sister (it’s in the handbook).

While personally we believe in the infilling of the Holy Spirit and the vigorous exercise of ALL the gifts of the Spirit (also in the book), we understand that not every Christian does.  We also believe that it doesn’t matter if you are Protestant, Lutheran, Methodist, Baptist, Pentecostal, Charismatic, Evangelical, Presbyterian, Anglican or Messianic Jew (if we left you out of the list, sorry, we didn’t mean to offend you).

What I mean is that each one of us says, “I follow Paul”, or I follow Apollos”, or I follow Peter, or I follow Christ.  Is Christ divided?  Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? (1 Corinthians 1:12-13).  In reality, there is only One True Church, One True GOD, One Way to get there and His name is Jesus.  Sorry, that is also in the handbook, John 14:6 and is also found in John 10:1, Mark 8:27-28, Mathew 16:15-17 and Isaiah 48:17 just to name a few.

The Bottom Line: We are all saved by Grace through Faith (Ephesians 2:8).  As long as you believe and call on Jesus as your Savior, you have the Steak & Potatoes of the Gospel (or the center of the plate protein, if you are a Vegan).  So, in those now immortal words of Rodney King, “Cant’ we all just get along?”

Where Do I Send My Bibles And Donations?

Bible Senders FAQS #19:  Since we are a Not for Profit organization, we can not pay for the shipping from your house to our storage facility.  Shipping needs to be paid by you.   Your donations can be made by Visa or MasterCard thru PayPal. below or by sending your tax deductible check to Bible Senders – PO Box 90 – Palm Harbor, FL 34682.

Where Does Bible Senders Send The Bibles?

Bible Senders FAQSBible Senders FAQS #20:  To-date, we have shipped, mailed or hand delivered your donated bibles to 51 countries including; Ghana, Nigeria, Uganda, Zambia, Cote d’Ivoire, Rwanda, South Africa, West Africa, Liberia, Kenya, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Philippines, Indonesia, Borneo, Fiji, India, Australia, England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Poland, Sweden, Ukraine, throughout the old and new Russian Federation, Australia, New Zealand, parts of the Middle East, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Honduras, Peru, Panama, Costa Rica, Haiti, Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Guyana, Jamaica, Mexico, Canada and all over the United States.  The only continent we have not shipped to is Antarctica.

We also work extra hard to get them into the hands of missionaries.  Through them, your bibles have found their way into countries that we don’t even know of and reached people who have never had a bible.  Some of your bibles have found their way into prisons, street ministries, people leading bible study groups, people attending bible study groups, inner city recreation centers, Youth Centers, Christian Birthing Centers, Abortion Clinics, B&B’s, to seminary students and your typical everyday person ranging from non-believers looking for an answer to seasoned veterans and even a few skeptics who were curious what the Word had to say about some of life’s more complicated issues.

What If Someone Wants To Scam The System?

Bible Senders FAQS #22:  OK, the actual question is, “what if someone can actually afford a bible and requests for Bible Senders to send them a free bible” or requests a “Free” bible so they can sell it.  We do our best to be prudent but in the end the way we see it, that is between them and The Almighty.  Our intention is to do our best to give to all those who ask (see Mission Statement).
