Almost Too Good To Be True News
I was recently asked why I called the Gospel, “The Almost Too Good To Be True News”. Honestly, I didn’t start the phrase, I picked it up from Andrew Wommack. The reason I use the term Almost Too Good To Be True News, is that once you get into reading the bible and start to really understand Who Jesus is, Who we are and What He has done for us, you begin to get a tiny glimpse of how incredible God’s promises are towards those who believe.
In addition to that, He did it for us when we didn’t believe or know Him AND He did it for every person who was ever born and for every person who will ever be born, no matter who you are, where you live OR what you did, do, or will ever do. The fact is you will never, ever be Good enough to earn it OR Bad enough not to get it. “By Grace we have been saved through Faith and this is not our own doing; it is a gift from God, not a result of works least any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:-9). As my daughter so aptly puts it “God constrained himself in the physical body of Jesus not because of who we are but in-spite of who we are”.
For no one, no matter how young, no matter how old is beyond Hope or beyond His grasp. The true Gospel defies our inner cynic and skeptical nature of the watered down “cultural” wimpy Jesus, many of us have been taught. However, The God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob, creator of the Universe, seen and unseen, known and unknown, knows your name even if you don’t know or acknowledge His. The fact is, all you have to do is believe and call, “for Who-So-Ever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Joel 2:32 / Acts 2:21). To my knowledge and understanding, every single one of us is a “Who-So-Ever”… Now really, that is Almost Too Good To Be True News.
